World Shooting Complex

World Shooting Complex

Location: Sparta, Illinois

This project consisted of the construction of a 12 post framed building containing a shower house, maintenance building, pump house, five vendor buildings, vendor mall and two storage sheds at the first-class World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta, Illinois.  The World Shooting and Recreational Complex is the largest firearm shooting facility in the country totaling approximately 1.600 acres.

The construction schedule for the facility was very aggressive in order for the facility to be completed in time for the “Amateur Trapshooting Association” Grand American Shoot.  Lake also constructed two new boat access areas including boat ramps, docks, privy’s Kiosk, and asphalt parking lots.

For this project, Lake was awarded the 2007 Thomas H. Madigan award by the Illinois Capital Development Board (CDB) for Outstanding New Construction.  Lake was also awarded the 2009 Outstanding Project Award in the Small Access Category by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources as well as the State Organization for Boating Access, for its construction of the East and Derby Lake Boat Access which were both parts of this project.
