USFWS Devil’s Kitchen Dam Auxiliary Spillway Modifications at the Devil’s Kitchen Lake Dam, located on the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge, Williamson County, Illinois. The project consisted of 4’ wide concrete pavement widening and placement of rip rap of the downstream side or the Auxiliary Spillway and construction of a new four foot tall and 30” wide double radius top concrete parapet which was approx. 500 L.F long, which set on the top of the upper stream part of the spillway. It also followed the curvature of the existing Dam Auxiliary Spillway. Worked also included excavation / removal of the existing three-foot earth berm and placement of upper stream rip rap.
